Nearly done!

I’ve had a great weekend, weather was glorious, I had 3 hours on Saturday and 3 hours on Sunday to try to get the entire plot turned over……..by 12.30pm on Sunday I was 95% done.

 Strawberry gone.

I started at 9:30 on Saturday morning working in the lovely sunshine and completely removed the last traces of the strawberry patch.  I also took a walk around the allotment and found the perfect patch for keeping Bee’s – I really need to look into this some more!

On Sunday I started the same time on the rough patch of ground by the new pallet composter, this is before….

 Rough ground before.

And I forgot to talk a picture afterwards, but suffice to say it’s basically all gone.  I’ll take some more pics soon.

No, I’m not losing interest.

Due to lack of activity due to the weather and lack of time I’ve not been able to do much on the allotment at the moment.  This work ‘thing’ is getting in the way too, I need find a job that pays me to work on the allotment.

I’ve been doing some more reading and speaking to people and I’m not sure that I will go with the raised bed system this year, I think I’ll go through this year and see what happens with a normal plot.  I’ve still got a 3rd to dug up but hopefully if the weather is ok this weekend then I’ll get it finished.

Had a bargin this weekend just gone, 3 tayberry bushes for £4.50 – I absolutely love them sooooooo sour mmmmmm.

A quick post.

Happy New Year!!!

Just a quick post as I’ve been away for Christmas and the New Year.  I had a few good books for Christmas and I’m being pushed down the raised bed route for 2 reasons:-

1. They make the plot look nicer.

2. They apparently extend your growing season.

I’m going to have a look into some designs/ideas and will post back soon.
